nooooo ... I didn't do one, but coming by this public subway I thought why the hard work of trying to get thousands of unique squares - if you could do something like that. Well knowing Quilters it probably exists somewhere out there already.

curious road sign

I went on a lovely tour of the in Winchester.
On the way from the station to the building I came by this very lovely road sign ...
I will sort through my pictures later and upload some more - expecially the lovely Norman clay tiles in the cathedral and some wrought iron gates ... I jsut love the way they look like quilts, or do quilts look like them? I guess that's the start of another hen and egg problem.

As I was not able to buy a ticket home - my lovely (most of the time) mum went to the train station for me. Afraid that my ticket wouls get lost she decided to send a package instead of a simply letter.
and the contents - the most important part!

WIP Wednesday - empty bobbin

I'm still busy adding border hexagons, and probably will do so for the next few months...
But I would say having used up my 220 yards of thread by hand calls for a link up.

interested in give aways?
I bet you are ... there are some fantastic ones, though more for the threads than the fabrics ...
Victorian Motto Samler Shoppe is giving away some lovely hand dyed floss and even more here for Valentines day, and some Sewing Charms.
Samelias Mum is having 2 give aways to celebrate her birthday No1 and No2 for her 500th-blog entry.
Sandrascraftscorner is having one for St. Patricks Day

my first patchwork ever
Together with the scarf pictures from yesterday I got a pictures of my first patchwork ever. A cushion case made from upholstery fabric - partly left overs from a re-doing of our chairs, and the rest from a sample blook from a sofa store.
Now I would love to make some new cases but my mom will not have it - it was a surprise back then, got me in some trouble for using the upholstery fabric for the chairs. To excuse the ehh uneven sewing and crooked lines, I was still in elementary school back then, and I was absolutely not allowed to use the iron when no one else was present. Ohh and I didn't know the terms "patchwork" and "quilting" back then.

I finally got some pictures of a birthday scarf - I was in a real hurry to send it off and forgot to take pictures so I ask the recipient to take some for me ...
I wonder why colours always turn out wrong on pictres - the floor is more warm yellow and less sick gray, and the scarf is redder not so brownish ... (but I don't really dare to ask for another set of pictures)

that's how long it took me to finish off with the white hexagons. Now I have to figure out what to do - another round of white ... or start with some other maching colour ...

First I emptied this - well almost, there is somethign to be said about keeping a bit of everything for emergencies, you never know. And of course that's not the reason, I simply ran out of fabric.
and created an ocean of hexagons on white (it's creamy because of the light; the black thingy is my faithful laptop entertaining me with movies and music, and audio books)
and then the big cutting started - I got my 500g feel good next to no fat cottage cheese container filled over the brim, well with a little pressing I do get the lid closed. It will be my companion on the bus for the next few weeks I would say.
Oh and of you ask yourself what the nice blurry fabric in the background is - that's my project bag.

busy busy evenings
Ladies Night was yesterdays distraction - that was one yummmm reason not to touch the sewing needle. Today it was a work reason - shortly before I was ready to go home we got a new pile of things that just had to be done by end of the day ... so of course I stayed.

I had an unexpected day with nothing really to do - so I spent my hours adding more hexagons and my last flowers. No more flowers and no more fabric for them ... so they are probably going to just be the center of the quilt ...
greenbaglady
I finally managed to put the bag I got from greenbaglady to good use, as I only did a little shoping and decided to go without my backpack.
I probably shouldn't have chosen those pictures, the contents look a bit unhealthy, toast and crisps - but I promise there are some apples, oranges and yoghurt, mik and chees burried at the bottom. But I didn't want them to squash my lovely crisps.
PS: The bag came with a lovely little yellow bag, but I'm using that to store my dried apples and didn't want to take them out of their place to make a picture out of fear I couldn't stop myself from eating half of them ... yummmm.

give away stars
A big "Thank you" to Solveig for making those lovely stars:
She send me 3 wonderful stars for the tree - sadly I'm not good at taking pictures and only this one turned out fine.

Norwich Library Quilts
I wanted to share some beautiful quilts I cam across visiting the Public Library in Norwich.
(it was haning from the right side - blogger keeps turning the picture 90°)
a close up of one of the individually quilted blocks, the green parts are quilted in a oak-leave garland
I would have liked to get the whole quilt on the picture, but there were some bookshelves that prevented me from standing far away enough.
some quilting detail which I'm sure some are interested in
