desperation makes creative

I think that one doesn't need an explanation

feeling productive

I'm goign to be Bee Queen in June (and July but that's for another bee) and I had to come up with a pattern and of course make the blocks to see if the instructions work fine, and well yeah all the other reasons:
So I'm going to get a lot of blocks like those this month:

purple centretrial block for Junered centre
and because they are 6.5" I will get 4 blocks from each of the bees - life is wonderful

I also did get one Bee block for May done and the other one is still in the making but I have a few more days - well okay I have like 2 days today and tomorrow, but there is just a little bit left to do:
Newbee Bee - May blockFinnland for May - BeeBiased

I also did get around to sewing some scraps together I ad left over fromt he "never again skirt"-project:

using up scraps

And most importantly I did get another quilt finished late laste night - now I just need to wait for nice weather to actually photograph it (and my other finish - yes there hasn't been a good sun since then):

another finish! - still bad weather pictures - I want some sun!

a finish

Yay - Vicotry ... I always love finishing the last two stitches of the binding. Now you will have to excuse the crappy pictures but the weather here is rather un-sunny in the last few days and it's not looking like it's changing so when I decided yesterday evening not to take pictures with a flash I didn't want to wait another day to take a few pictures.
So let me introduce my newest finish:

 "Walk the Line" it's 47" x 67" (or 120cm x 170cm)

I'm done!

a quilting detail (and much better colours)

walk the line - what to do with the blue border

And that's it I need to go back to my papers and in between try to memorise plays ... and iron binding for the other quilt ... maybe more of the black I have a lot of black binding left over....

being busy

So I start to feel a little bad posting so much - but hey I finally have some real "time" on my hands so I need to suse it right?! Well I did - Thursday was a holiday and Friday was turned into a "bridge day" so I finished quilting my D9P.

D9P - finally getting somewhere

Well some details - try not to see all the loose threads I still need to take care of - I really should look into those meandering-endless designs. Uhh yeah when do I ever do what I should be doing ... why take the easy way if there's a complicated one.

D9P

Oh yeah and I think Imentioned using a sheet? bed cover? hmm I can't be bothered to look it up - anyway it's alovely rosé with rosé white flowers and brownish leaves (mind it's NOT pink - I don't do pink - except for very very good friends who know how to make me feel guilty if I refuse)

D9P

Well and as I was at the sewing machine - and needed a quilting break I took out a handful of scraps I got in the post that morning and - there it was a pre-cut flower, which I deemed perfect to give my sports trousers a "Ladylike" touch. I would have prefered a red or green and blue striped shorts - but I couldn't find any without pockets so I got stuck with the blue soccer shorts. Well I should have chosen a more girly sport like hmmm volley ball or tennis or badminton and I could get my colourfull shorts/skirts ...

upcycling - scrap usage

And here a complete shot - ehh and yeah that's the next quilt waiting for the basting pins so I can quilt it - the weather is really miserbale - The "ice holies" start tomorrow and they really want to do right by their name.

upcycling - scrap usage + quilt basting

And that's it - wll until I finish quilting the next quilt - I just need to settle on a "design".

quilting at last and other things

I finished this top a really really long time ago - I think it's my first "big" quilt top ever. I made it using my first giveaway winnings - a charm pack. Well I was out of batting for the last 2 or 3 months and finally got a load last week, but couldn'T start anything as I had to prepare for my sister's confirmation - lot's of nice food and an interessting field study on the reaction of my catholic grandparents (both in their late 80ies) to the protestant service.

confrimation cakes

So anyway that's my quilting/sewing corner (I should clean up a bit before quilting errr taking pictures next time) so far it's been stitch in the ditch-ing for me. But I already started on the big triangles. [here's a picture of the top] And if you wonder what the backing is - yes it's sort of a rosé coloured fabric with flowers printed on it - well a vintage sheet - cut open on one side, was just big enough for the back. Now you could probably say it doesn't fit - well I'm not one to worry too much about such things and I like the front and I like the back so they work together.

quilting

Oh and I think I haven'T shown you my April bee blocks yet? I was in such a hurry to get them send off that I forgot to do a post about them - I need to work on making more individual posts instead of one big post with a ton of things in it - I know that the attention span of humans has limits.

BeeBiased April

And as a last picture to cause an overload on your end - I finished that quilt as a Christmas present and never took a picture so while visiting for the confirmation I snuck up on my sister and got a shot - she's not into having her pictures taken, though it's gettign better she doesn't hide anymore on group shots. [Not that I'm any better]

some sewing at last

Well I had planned to get more sewign done yesterday - but lucky for me today is a holiday so I have time to catch up and take care of my blue / purple knee (nature does have some pretty amazing shades of colours. But I said I did get some sewing done - it's a mini quilt for a swap and it should have been done in March and I feel terrible for being late, but (contrary to me) my swap partner is a very patient Lady.

We had a pretty beautiful sun set yesterday and I snuck out taking a few pictures - I'm just glad they (Dortmund and Real Madrid) didn't make any goals.
